I had practised Pilates and Yoga since I was a teenager and had a fascination with the human body in motion. Having benefited from a variety of massages over the years and wanting a more ‘hands on’ career, I undertook a part time course in Level 3 and 4 in Sports and Remedial Massage at Bath Spa University, qualifying in 2017. I am currently studying to complete my level 5 at the LSSM in London. I have worked as a massage therapist in a variety of different environments ranging from sporting events, local businesses and a chiropractic clinic.
I recognise that many of the ailments that people suffer from are caused by poor posture, bad habits and stresses to the body that are brought about through “normal life”. With an increasing thirst to expand my knowledge while building on the foundation of soft tissue work that I have already acquired, I am also undertaking a master’s degree in Osteopathic Medicine at Plymouth Marjon University. I hope to graduate as a qualified Osteopath in 2023. My vision in the future is to provide an integrated service to clients which combines osteopathic diagnosis and treatment, remedial massage when appropriate and Pilates exercises to maintain posture and optimum functioning of the musculo-skeletal system.
I take great pleasure in assisting people in their journey to live a happy, healthy and balanced life. I would like to guide them to fully understand how their body functions so they can benefit from long term improvement in physical wellbeing.
Soft tissue therapy involves the assessment and treatment of the musculoskeletal system through the manual manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Sports massage is a branch of soft tissue therapy offering deep tissue massage to aid and speed recovery of injured muscle tissue.
This treatment prevents and breaks down scar tissue which is a sticky fibrous tissue that binds together to form adhesions or ‘knots’ and can cause problems with muscle function. Deep friction techniques can tear these adhesions apart, improving circulation to the area and promote healing.
